Introducing live tracking for
buses across NSW, Australia
Transport for NSW (TfNSW) is dedicated to enhancing public transport services across New South Wales, including buses, trains, ferries, and light rail. As part of their commitment to improving passenger experience, they’ve introduced a new 'live' tracking feature for buses, available on third-party apps.
The objective
The objective of this campaign is to promote and educate the public about the key benefits of the 'live' tracking service. This feature is designed to assist parents by allowing them to monitor their children’s whereabouts when they are returning home from school, providing peace of mind and ensuring safety.
The solution
"A visual graphic was created to demonstrate the 'live' tracking function, avoiding promotion of specific third-party apps. This approach conveys the concept clearly without associating with any service, using minimal text. The goal was for the graphic to communicate the functionality effectively, enabling viewers to understand it without extensive explanation, especially in areas with low English proficiency.
The outcome
The campaign successfully raised awareness of the 'live' tracking feature, with the visual graphic effectively communicating its benefits to parents and increasing app usage. Due to its success, this campaign has been reused and rolled out across New South Wales since 2020, further enhancing public confidence in the safety and reliability of transport services.
